Commonsense should always prevail

In both the work environment and home environment of today there is some degree of exposure to toxic substances. These are a potential danger especially for the eyes, lungs and skin.

Students must accept responsibility for safe work practice as well as the products they choose to use.

Cautions:

  • Work in a well ventilated area or in the open air
  • Never directly inhale fumes as they may be toxic
  • Wear protective clothing i.e. gloves, masks (respirator), eye protection
  • Remove any paint, glues, chemicals, pastes, etc. from hands using lemon juice.
  • Avoid applying another chemical based cleaning agent to an existing one on your hands as this can add more toxicity to your skin
  • Always follow manufacturers' instructions for appropriate warnings
  • Never cross mix products
  • Product Safety Data Sheets are available from manufacturers
