Commonsense should always prevail
In both the work environment and home environment of today there is some degree of exposure to toxic substances. These are a potential danger especially for the eyes, lungs and skin.
Students must accept responsibility for safe work practice as well as the products they choose to use.
Cautions:
- Work in a well ventilated area or in the open air
- Never directly inhale fumes as they may be toxic
- Wear protective clothing i.e. gloves, masks (respirator), eye protection
- Remove any paint, glues, chemicals, pastes, etc. from hands using lemon juice.
- Avoid applying another chemical based cleaning agent to an existing one on your hands as this can add more toxicity to your skin
- Always follow manufacturers' instructions for appropriate warnings
- Never cross mix products
- Product Safety Data Sheets are available from manufacturers
